Barry H. Ostrowsky
President and Chief Executive Officer
RWJBarnabas Health

President and Chief Executive Officer of New Jersey’s largest not-for-profit integrated health care delivery system, Barry H. Ostrowsky leads the system’s initiatives ensuring the highest quality healthcare for patients, and is spearheading a system-wide endeavor to promote healthier living for employees and the diverse communities it serves.

Mr. Ostrowsky joined Saint Barnabas Medical Center in 1991 as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. He served in the same role at Barnabas Health, when the System was created in 1996. He assumed the title of President and Chief Operating Officer in 2010, and became President and Chief Executive Officer in January, 2012. Mr. Ostrowsky was recently named President and Chief Executive Officer of the newly formed RWJBarnabas Health.

Prior, Mr. Ostrowsky was a Senior Partner in the law firm of Brach Eichler. Throughout his career, Mr. Ostrowsky has been actively involved in many community organizations. He received a BA from Rutgers University and a JD from the University of Tennessee School of Law.

This Year’s Distinguished Award Winner is James Gonzalez

Mr. Gonzalez is President and Chief Executive Officer of Broadway House for Continuing Care in Newark, NJ, the State’s only specialized long term care facility for people living with HIV/AIDS. He also serves as Special Advisor to University Hospital located in Newark as well.

Housed in a magnificently restored historic landmark, the 78 bed residence is dedicated to serving the complex, post-acute needs of its chosen population. Since 1995, skilled, compassionate staff has provided a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to care incorporating a full continuum of medical, psychological and social support.

Over the past 30 years, Jim has held executive positions in academic health centers, community hospitals and long-term care facilities in New York and New Jersey. From 2008-2011, he was the Director of Clinical Academic Affiliations for the UMDNJ/New Jersey Medical School. In 2011, he was asked to serve as the interim President/CEO of University Hospital in addition to his management of Broadway House. In 2013, He was appointed the new CEO of University Hospital and led the transition from a university owned facility to as a stand-alone, safety net teaching hospital. He became Special Advisor to University Hospital in 2016 and continues to manage Broadway House.

Jim has a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University, Boston Massachusetts and a Masters Degree in Public Health from the Yale School of Public Health. A Fellow and Certified Healthcare Executive with the American College of Healthcare Executives, Jim also serves on the following boards:

· St. James FQHC
· John V. Kelly Memorial Foundation
· Healthcare Association of NJ
· The Governor’s Council on HIV/AIDS and Related Blood Borne Pathogens
