The February meeting of AHENJ will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Overlook Hospital, Summit, New Jersey.  The event will begin with a networking reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner and our educational session.

Workshop Scope

Johnson Controls will facilitate a two-hour Navigation Session to share how other healthcare systems around the country are planning for their clinical, business and building systems investments in cross-functional teams to make collaborative short-term and long-term decisions for their expansion plans or replacement hospitals.

Johnson Controls Inc. will make use of a specially designed “game board” assessment tool called the Solutions Navigator™ which accelerates cross-functional planning activities.  During the session, participants will interact with each other through three exercises.  They will:

  • Evaluate a comprehensive set of healthcare organizational needs
  • Evaluate a set of common types of people and assets that are candidates for location services
  • Evaluate a set of top best practices in automated critical event management, with a focus on patient safety

In addition, key technology drivers from over 50 other healthcare systems will be shared with this group, along with the findings from two other planning exercises related to wireless applications, systems and devices and systems integration.

Workshop Deliverables

A comprehensive report (in PowerPoint format) summarizing the results from the participants will be provided within two weeks of the workshop.  The facilitator will be available for a read-out of the report (via conference call) with the workshop participants after delivery of the report.
